I frequently have to remind myself to celebrate failures because it means that I both tried and there are things to learn from the data gathered.

When you are finding your way out of dysfunction and pain it can feel like a series of failures as you are gathering feedback related to how your body responds to inputs. Once you get that data you can refine the inputs and improve the outputs.

Hearing this brought tears to my eyes.

This was a singer who thought her time was up. Diagnosis and prognosis had been given and she was resigned to not singing any more.
-
That’s when she found her way to me and we took a whole body approach to her singing.
-
Changes don’t happen over night, but they happen when we combine awareness with consistency and the right inputs. Sound production became easier, her range expanded and she felt like singing again.

This morning’s movement tools.

I do a 15 minute wake-my-body-up practice that gives me the chance to tune in and ask what my body needs today.
-
The answer was rotator cuff work (green band) and gut smash (purple Coregeous ball).
-
My movement practice has evolved from 22 years ago when I began it as a way to offset my running, just another athletic endeavor, to a place to manage my performance nerves and finally into a practice that brings me home to myself each and every time.

It looks sort of like yoga, but not like the yoga you find in most studios. I’m someone who is ok coloring outside the lines to make something mine.
